Welcome

Welcome to my website.

I am a local doctor and I've lived in the Lyne electorate for over 20 years. I understand the issues important to the community.

During the campaign I will be consulting widely with the communities in the electorate.

In support of this, I have established this website to assist in the communication on the important campaign issues.

I look forward to seeing you out and about in the electorate.

Better Health and Faster Broadband for Lyne

1. Better Health

Fred Lips understands our area having lived and worked here for over twenty years. Fred lives with his wife Pam on their macadamia orchard at Heron's Creek near Camden Haven.

As a respected local doctor working in the public health system Fred has had a wealth of experience working in health care delivery to rural and regional communities across NSW.

Fred has worked as a specialist in anaesthesia and pain management in Port Macquarie, Taree and Kempsey for over twenty years so he knows the challenges facing the health system.

If elected Fred will help to implement the Better Health and Hospitals programme being rolled out by the Gillard Labor government and make sure we get our fair share of the benefits to be delivered in community and hospital care.

2. Faster broadband

"I would urge all voters before this Saturday to understand the key differences between the Coalition and Labor policy on broadband and the impact on regional areas," Fred Lips said.

Many national press articles have articulated these differences.

"The Coalition's policy would be a huge setback for regional Australia and the Lyne electorate."

Faster broadband, under Labor's National Broadband Network implementation, will deliver more than just high-speed telecommunications. It is about better access to health services for Australian families; better education opportunities fro Australian kids; creating new business opportunities and stimulating Australia's economy. And it is about creating and keeping jobs in Australia.

Join the conversation for faster broadband in Australia.

3. Part of Julia Gillard's team

Julia Gillard talks about Fred Lips...

"As a local doctor Fred will be a strong voice for Lyne and will get results. Fred understands the importance of listening to people and working hard to make a difference"

Fred Lips for Lyne

Having lived and worked in the Mid North Coast for over twenty years, I am passionate about this great part of Australia. I am standing as the Labor candidate for Lyne because it is essential that, at a Federal level, Lyne be given the representation and voice necessary to benefit our community. An elected member of a serving Government is clearly best placed to provide that representation and voice.

The primary issue for Lyne in this election is health care reform. At a Federal level this electorate deserves much more than neutrality; it deserves a strong voice from within a Government committed to improving health. The Gillard Government is the party committed to health reform and if elected, I will deliver better health outcomes for our community.

Together with better health, the people of Lyne will be better served by a Government with the vision and commitment to deliver national infrastructure that builds a better Australia. The Labor Government's National Broadband Network (NBN) has the potential to transform our community. I am passionate about what the NBN can do for our country and the people of Lyne. For the young people in our community, this is the opportunity of a generation.

Under the Gillard Labor Government's NBN, every home, business, school and hospital will have access to affordable, high speed broadband and noone will miss out. Ninety-three percent of people will have access to fibre technology delivery speeds up to 1 gigabit per second.

My commitment is to be a strong voice in the next Government to get results for the people of Lyne, namely better public healthcare and hospitals, better infrastructure and faster broadband.

Pricing Carbon

Prime Minister Pricing carbon is the right thing to do, it is an essential economic reform. Australians are the biggest polluters per capita in the developed world. Our climate is changing - we need to reduce carbon pollution now. If we delay pricing carbon now, we risk losing the jobs of the future and threaten our long term prosperity. This is the best way to stop businesses polluting and get them to invest in clean energy. Now is our time to build a clean energy future.
